Polity. The government of this
church is vested in the body of believers who compose it. It is subject to
the control of no other ecclesiastical body, but it recognizes and sustains
the obligations of mutual counsel and co-operation which are common among
Baptist Churches. Insofar as is practical, this church will co-cooperate with
and support such organizations as may be affiliated with the Southern Baptist
Convention.
Doctrine. This church receives the
Purpose. The purpose of the Westlawn
Baptist Church of Huntsville, Ala., shall be to carry out the Great Commission
of our Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, and
Acts 1:9, and to develop Christian fellowship and growth in the knowledge
of our Lord Jesus Christ among the saints. |
Scriptures as its authority in matters of faith and practice. Its understanding
of Christian truth as contained therein is in essential accord with the belief
of other Southern Baptist Churches.
